We Call on you to Take Ownership of this Enterprise that is Already Yours". Says Filipe Jacinto Nyusi

The event took place today at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Goeje, South Korea, and was attended by the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and his counterpart from South Korea, Moon Jae-In.

The Coral-Sul FLNG platform will be towed and anchored in its area of operation, in the deep sea off the Mozambican coast, and is expected to arrive in mid-January 2022. With an installed capacity of 3.37 million tonnes per year, this will be the first facility to produce and liquefy natural gas in the Rovuma Basin and the first of its scale to operate in deep African waters.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Mozambican Head of State said he is confident in the impact and value that the natural gas, to be produced in Mozambique, may have on international markets. "Mozambique has over 150 tcf of proven and recoverable natural gas reserves, and offers guarantees of reliable and competitive LNG supply for several decades" said President Nyusi.

In another development, the President of the Republic, noted that Mozambicans should take ownership of the know-how that will be generated by the implementation of the project. "To the Mozambicans who are closely following the implementation of the project from the beginning, we appeal to you to appropriate this endeavour that is already yours and that at the end of this process you can transfer the knowledge acquired here to your brothers thirsty for knowledge"

First production is scheduled for the second half of 2022, and should be exported to the different markets of the world, which will help to supply the world demand for natural gas, particularly at this critical time of energy transition, and allow the Mozambican State to collect revenues, on the order of 19.3 billion USD, during the entire lifetime of the project, which is 25 years.

Stefano Maione, Eni's Director of Development, Operations and Energy Efficiency, said in his speech during the ceremony that "The Coral Sul FLNG Project is a world-class achievement in engineering, construction know-how and technology, suited to kick-start the development of Mozambique's world-class resources. The project fits fully into Eni's energy transition strategy as we move into a future where gas plays a crucial and transitional role."

The revenues from the project could enable the implementation of other structuring and transformational projects in Mozambique. Another aspect to retain is the number of workers that the entire project has generated, around 800 Mozambicans, with 350 guaranteed to be operating on the platform throughout the project's lifetime.

Although the main components of this platform were built in South Korea, at Samsung Heavy industries' shipyards, it incorporates various components produced in various corners of the world and was designed with the latest LNG technology, with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

THE CORAL-SOUTH FLNG PLATFORM:

- Is 432 metres long

- It is 66 metres wide

- Weighs approximately 220,000 tonnes; and

- In normal operations, it will accommodate up to 350 people.

The concessionaires for Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin include Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) S.p.A. a Joint Venture co-owned by Eni, ExxonMobil and CNODC, with a 70% participating interest, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P. (ENH), Galp Energia Rovuma B.V. and KOGAS Mozambique Ltd., all with 10% participating interest.
