AREA A5-A

Following the public tender launched in October 2014, Eni Mozambico SpA, Sasol Petroleum Moçambique Exploration Lda. and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, EP (ENH, EP), were awarded the offshore area of Angoche A5-A, and signed the Exploration and Production Concession Contract in October 2018.(Link to the signed EPCC AREA A5-A)

Here is a brief description of the contract.

The EPCC was signed in October 2018 and awarded to Eni, Sasol and ENH, as part of the 5th Bidding Round. The area is offshore the coast near Angoche, in Nampula Province, in water depth from about 300 meters to 1800 meters. The contract was split into three exploration sub-periods, of 4 + 2 + 2 years.  

 

Below are the minimum commitments:

 

First exploration sub-period - 48 months

  • Acquire 4,500 km2 of 3D seismic data;
  • Drill 3 exploration wells up to 3,800 meters total vertical depth below sea level (msl TVD) or to the Eocene, whichever comes first, but in any case no less than to 2,800 msl TVD;
  • Complete US$ 5 million of other studies.

 

Second exploration sub-period - 24 months

  • Drill 2 exploration wells up to 3,800 msl TVD or to the Cretaceous, whichever comes first, but in any case no less than to 2,800 msl TVD;
  • Complete US$ 10 million of other studies.

 

Third exploration sub-period - 24 months

  • Drill 1 exploration well up to 3,800 msl TVD or to the Cretaceous, whichever comes first, but in any case no less than to 2,800 msl TVD;
  • Complete US$ 5 million of other studies.
