South African Multinational Announces Business Opportunities in Pande and Temane

The initiative, as we it is reported by Sasol's source, aimed primarily at disseminating the opportunities in terms of the provision of services available in the project's value chain.

According to Sasol's Local Content managers, 159 people attended the event, 80 of which accessed the event in place and 79 virtually. These participants represented the companies invited to the event.

The source also said in a statement that the supplier and local business development program was set to reach 100 companies in Maputo and Inhambane, being implemented for a period of 3 years, in 5 cycles of 6 months each. At the present, the programme remains suspended due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, however, Sasol is internally evaluating alternatives to continue the programme.

In terms goods and services supply, the source reveals that since the beginning of the project Sasol has contracted 1527 national companies and registered in Mozambique during the same period, over 300 permanent jobs and more than 3500 indirect jobs have been created. To date, Sasol has spent approximately $1.56 billion on the acquisition of goods and services nationwide, of which approximately 44% ($692 million) has been paid to Mozambican suppliers and suppliers registered in Mozambique. It should be stressed that Sasol currently employs 233 workers, of whom 227 are nationals and 6 are foreigners. Low and medium-skilled positions are 100% held by Mozambican workers, 94% hold high-skilled positions and 91% management positions, the multinational said.
