Golfinho/Atum Project Workforce, From Paper to Action

Golfinho/Atum Project Workforce, From Paper to Action

MAPUTO, April 06, 2021 -One of the greatest opportunities in oil and gas projects lies in the hiring of national citizens either directly by the project, indirectly by contractors and subcontractors or in an induced manner, that is, through activities that arise in connection with the projects.

Through the hiring of local labor, it is possible to transfer knowledge and subsequent succession of expatriates by nationals, ensuring that in the future, Mozambicans can fill more qualified positions in the projects, as well as exporting national labor to other projects abroad. For instance, the Golfinho/Atum Project will require a natural gas liquefaction plant to be built onshore, as well as other infrastructure associated with the project.

At the peak of the plant construction phase, it is expected that about 5000 Mozambicans will be directly involved in the onshore infrastructure construction, mainly through the EPC contractor and its subcontractors. Currently, the project's workforce translates as follows:

Work Force Location in the Country

The Area 1 project committed from the onset to prioritize the workforce in the project-affected area and only then the rest of the country. Therefore, a significant portion of the total project workforce is in the project area, representing a direct impact to the host community.
